Emily is a certified music therapist and music educator serving Cambridge, K-W, and surrounding areas. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2023, receiving Honours with Distinction and a minor in Psychology.
During her internship with Expressions Music Therapy Services, she developed her clinical skills with older adults in long-term care and adults with cognitive disabilities. She also has experience working with children and youth with developmental delays, and neurodivergent people of all ages.
As an educator, she provides private voice and piano lessons for students ages 3 and up, helping them meet their goals and gain knowledge of their instrument while fostering a love of music.
Emily’s clinical work is based on humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, empowerment theory, and anti-oppressive principles. She believes that each person has the capability to make music, and the capacity to cultivate wellness in each domain of life through means of music. She prioritizes celebrating strengths and promoting personal growth in her clients using an empathetic approach, creative expression, and play.
Though her primary instrument is voice, she also uses piano, guitar, ukulele, flute, and other instruments in her sessions. In her free time, Emily enjoys creating digital art, spending time with loved ones, hiking and yoga.
